In response to a tweet from a user who suggested gifting a new Thar SUV to Praggnanandhaa, Anand Mahindra expressed his admiration and respect for the young chess prodigy, commending him for bringing pride to the nation in the realm of chess. While he acknowledged the idea of gifting a Thar, he mentioned having a different concept in mind.
Anand Mahindra wants parents to introduce children to chess
Anand Mahindra aimed to symbolize the influence of parents in introducing children to chess and nurturing a brighter future, much like electric vehicles represent progress in today’s world. This is why he opted to gift a new-generation electric vehicle, the Mahindra XUV400, to Praggnanandhaa and his parents, Shrimati Nagalakshmi and Shri Ramesh Babu. Anand Mahindra’s decision to gift the XUV400 to Praggnanandhaa and his parents stems from his gratitude for their unwavering support.
In his tweet, Anand Mahindra also tagged Rajesh Jejurikar, the Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra and Mahindra, to share his concept of gifting the new vehicle to Praggnanandhaa. In response, Jejurikar congratulated Praggnanandhaa and his parents, confirming the decision and announcing the delivery of a special edition Mahindra XUV400 to the young chess prodigy.
Earlier this year, Mahindra introduced the new XUV400 electric SUV as its inaugural all-electric SUV. Built on the existing platform of the XUV300 compact SUV, the XUV400 boasts an elongated wheelbase and distinct front and rear profiles, tailored with EV-specific designs. It comes with two battery pack choices – 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh, both featuring a front-wheel drive configuration and an electric motor generating 150 PS of maximum power and 310 Nm of peak torque.
The 34.5 kWh battery pack offers a maximum driving range of 375 km, while the 39.4 kWh battery pack claims a driving range of 456 km (both tested on MIDC cycle). The XUV400 is available in three variants – EC (with 3.3 kW charger), EC (with 7.2 kW charger), and EL (with 7.2 kW charger).
