If you want to know the true Kamala Harris, just watch her when she’s caught in unscripted moments.

We all know the reason that Kamala is kept on a short leash when it comes to interviews and spur-of-the-moment gaggles with her campaign press corps: She can be relied on to say something stupid every single time.

She proves her capacity for spewing inanities time and time again (AKA, Kamala’s Word Salad of the Day). RedState’s Nick Arama came across one such incident on Sunday:

Usually when she’s traveling back and forth, you see her running from the car to the plane and completely blowing off the press that might be waiting there, hoping to slip in a question. But for some reason, on Sunday, the press managed to get in at least a couple of queries when she was traveling to New York.

When asked about an upcoming speech she’ll be giving on the economy, Kamala dished up this nonanswer:

Kamala says she’ll outline her “vision for the economy” this week that will deal with “what we can create in terms of opportunity for the American people in making an opportunity economy which really is in short form it’s about what we can do more to invest in the aspirations, the ambitions, and the dreams of the American people while addressing the challenges that they face, whether it’s the high price of groceries or the difficulty in being able to acquire home ownership [unintelligible].”

So, off-the-cuff remarks? No good. And she’s not so great with prepared remarks and softball interviews, either.

She’s just not good at speaking, in general — and just wait until you hear about her policies! — so you have to pay attention to her most unguarded moments to find out what Kamala Harris is really all about. On Tuesday, footage surfaced from a 2018 “Time’s Up!” rally (alongside Jussie Smollett, no less!) showing Kamala joining in a deranged chant that, though silly, gave a concise, four-word explanation of her immigration policy:

For those of you who opted not to listen, here’s the chant:

Down, down with deportation! Up, up with education!

Just as a refresher, the “Time’s Up!” movement was created by female movie stars after the revelations about Harvey Weinstein came out and purported to raise money to provide support to victims of sexual harassment. Yes, the women who allowed Weinstein to become a monster — looking at you, Meryl Streep — were supposedly helping his victims. Sigh.

Anyway, there’s Kamala laughing and dancing and chanting at the rally, along with her husband, Doug Emhoff. Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold on a second. Doug Emhoff, who reportedly got the family nanny pregnant and pressured her into an abortion, is protesting against the sexual harassment of women? Against the actions of Harvey Weinstein? He IS Harvey Weinstein! You can’t make it up.

Why the “Time’s Up!” rally started chanting about immigration is anyone’s guess, but the left are nothing if not devoid of clarity. Kamala was a senator back in those days, and she’s always been loathe to turn down a good chant and awkward dance, especially when the crowd starts screaming her name (which it does at the end of the clip).

While getting lost in the moment, Kamala from the past delivered a walloping fact check to present-day Kamala, the wannabe president who has been the border czar for almost four years. The Kamala of today has her sights set on the Oval Office, thus her lurch to the right on illegal immigration and her empty promises to go tough on border control … once she’s elected president, of course. She couldn’t possibly be expected to walk the talk by doing something right now, when she’s actually in charge of a significant part of the border, but voters are expected to just shut up and trust that she’ll tackle it once she’s elected president.

Kamala’s inability to espouse even the simplest policy ideas has the left nervous, with one Democrat pollster fretting, “We need to neutralize the [immigration] issue, so we can give clarity to voters on abortion, on economic conversation and the risks Trump presents.” They know that Donald Trump’s stance on immigration and border patrol is a winner with the American people, so they’re screaming “Squirrel!” with all their phony tough talk on immigration and their exploitation of women who have died due to botched abortions. It’s what they do.

If the video of Kamala having a whale of time chanting against the deportation of illegals proves anything, it’s that this maxim holds true as ever: “When people tell you who they are, believe them.” Kamala ain’t deporting anyone.
